SMRT starts slapping people with fines.
You heard it. It was in the news and it is creating a wave of unhappiness. For the reason that SMRT is fining people who drink plain water in their own bottle or popping a candy for consumption. $30 for a start. Repeat offenders will have their fines increased.
What do you think? I think this is totally abhorrent.
I was drinking PLAIN WATER from my oh-so-expensive Nalgene waterbottle because i was thirsty and i need water to tame my cough. There came a woman in red (SMRT girl) and told straight into my face NO DRINKING. I was like WTF! My instant reaction was to stick out my middle finger and shout at her. What nonsense. But then, she walked off and i saved my voicebox from further irritation. It happened 1-2mths ago at Bugis Station. Not in the train mind you.
So i guess i was reprimended instead of being fined. Things probably have changed for the worst. They (SMRT AMBASSADORS) are out in full force and issuing summons as hard as if they were doing sales. *Crazy* Plain ridiculous lah.
Hence, if you really need a drink, look left, look right and then left again. They are watching you very closely. How i wish i can attend SMRT's 10th Annual General Meeting. Should be quite pleasant to watch them debate, plus free lunch! haha.
Sidetrack:
Could this be real?
Of cos, it's just another speculation. But the SMRT drink-plain-water saga is real for sure.
